Jasmine Rice · ข้าวหอมมะลิ

Meet the Ingredient

Jasmine rice, known in Thailand as khao hom mali (pronounced khao homm ma-lee), is recognised by its slender white grains, soft texture and delicately fragrant aroma. When finely milled into a smooth powder, it becomes a gentle alternative to coarse physical exfoliants.

We use jasmine rice in our Detoxifying Herbal Mask, where it works alongside makrut lime, turmeric, mulberry leaf and green chiretta to help absorb excess oil, lift away dull surface buildup and leave the complexion feeling cleaner, softer and smoother. You’ll also find it in our Herbal Body Scrub, where its fine texture helps polish rough, dry skin and restore a fresh, healthy softness.

Finely milled rice powder provides a delicate physical polishing action that helps remove surface buildup and refine rough texture. Rice starch is also naturally absorbent, helping take up excess oil and leave the skin feeling fresher and more balanced.

Rice-derived compounds such as ferulic acid, gamma-oryzanol and phytic acid are valued for their antioxidant activity.

Did You Know?

Despite its name, Thai jasmine rice does not contain jasmine flowers. The name refers to the grain’s soft white colour, which resembles jasmine petals, while its naturally fragrant cooked aroma is often described as closer to pandan. Rice also holds a deeply meaningful place in Thai culture, where it is connected to family life, farming traditions and Mae Phosop, the Mother Goddess of Rice.
