Meet the Ingredient

Shea butter is a rich, creamy butter pressed from the kernels of the African shea tree. Naturally firm at room temperature, it melts beautifully with warmth and brings a deeply nourishing, comforting feel to dry skin and hair.

We chose shea butter because its richness works beautifully alongside the lighter oils used throughout our Thai-rooted rituals. You’ll find it in our Best-Selling Hair Mask, where it helps soften dry, brittle strands, in our Kindness Lotion for smooth, comfortable skin, and in our Herbal Warmth Body Oil, where it adds extra nourishment to a silky massage blend for dry skin.

Shea butter is naturally rich in stearic and oleic acids, along with smaller amounts of linoleic and palmitic acids. These nourishing fats contain antioxidant and antimicrobial properties and help increase hydration, reduce moisture loss, soften rough, dry skin and leave the skin feeling smoother and more supple. Its rich texture also helps coat dry or brittle hair, improving softness and manageability.

Did You Know?

For generations, communities across West Africa have processed shea nuts by hand to create a rich butter used for cooking and traditional skin and hair care. Shea butter has been especially valued for protecting and softening skin in hot, dry climates, while the work of collecting and processing the nuts has long provided an important source of income for women in shea-growing communities.

That long tradition of using shea butter for practical, nourishing care is why it fits so naturally into our own rituals today. Paired with oils and herbs rooted in Thai traditions, it brings extra richness and softness to formulas created for dry skin and hair.
