Potassium alum, known in Thailand as saan som (pronounced sahn-sohm), is a mineral salt recognised by its clear, crystal-like appearance. It has been familiar in Thai households for generations and is valued for the clean, fresh feel it brings when dissolved in water.

We use potassium alum in our Detoxifying Herbal Mask to help absorb excess oil and leave skin feeling clean and refreshed. You’ll also find it in our natural bergamot deodorant and rosemary deodorant, where it helps control odour-causing bacteria while allowing the body to perspire naturally.

Potassium alum has astringent and antibacterial properties. Its astringent action can leave skin feeling temporarily smoother and more refined, while its antibacterial activity helps support a clean, fresh feel.

In deodorant, potassium alum helps limit bacteria linked to body odour. Rather than simply covering odour with fragrance, it helps reduce one of the main causes behind it.
