Meet the Ingredient

Coconut, known in Thailand as maphrao (pronounced ma-phrao), has long been part of everyday life in Thailand, valued for everything from cooking to traditional hair and body care. Its naturally rich oil is especially loved for the way it softens, nourishes and helps protect against dryness, which is why coconut appears across so many of our rituals.

In our Hair Mask Oil, coconut helps leave dry, frizzy hair softer, smoother and easier to manage. You’ll also find it in our Rich Body Oil, where it helps replenish dry skin, in our Cleansing Bar Soap where it naturally leaves skin clean and soft, and in our Rose & Coconut Bath Milk where it turns an everyday soak into a deeply nourishing ritual that leaves the skin soft, comfortable and cared for.

Verified by Modern Science

Coconut oil is naturally rich in lauric acid, a fatty acid with a strong affinity for hair proteins. Its molecular structure allows it to penetrate the hair shaft and reduce protein loss in both damaged and undamaged hair, helping strands feel stronger, smoother and better protected against breakage.

When applied to dry skin, coconut oil acts as a deeply nourishing emollient, moisturising and soothing skin until it feel softer, smoother and more comfortable.

Did You Know?

Coconut milk is one of the foundations of traditional khanom Thai, commonly paired with rice flour and palm sugar to create the creamy textures found across Thai sweets. Coconut also appears throughout savoury cooking, including curries, sauces and regional dishes.

Beyond the kitchen, coconut has long held a place in Thai beauty care. Coconut milk and oil have traditionally been used in scrubs, massage and hair treatments to soften dry strands and leave them looking smooth and glossy.
