Meet the Ingredient

Green chiretta, known in Thailand as fa thalai chon (pronounced fah tah-lai chohn) are famously bitter and have been used in Thai herbal preparations for generations.

We use green chiretta leaf powder in our award-winning Kaffir Lime Turmeric & Rice Detoxifying Herbal Mask. Freshly mixed with water before each use, the mask helps cleanse away excess oil and impurities, calm the appearance of redness and blemishes, and leave the complexion feeling smoother, clearer and refreshed.

Verified by Modern Science

Green chiretta is naturally rich in andrographolide, one of the main compounds responsible for the plant’s characteristic bitterness. Research has found strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which helps calm visible redness and irritation while protecting skin cells from damage that can contribute to dullness and early signs of ageing.

Did You Know?

Green chiretta is often called the King of Bitters because of the remarkably bitter taste of its leaves. In Thailand, it has been used in traditional herbal care for generations and remains such an important herb that it is formally recognised in the Thai Herbal Pharmacopoeia.

Its long history in Thai herbal wisdom is one of the reasons we chose to bring it into our own skincare ritual. In our herbal mask, green chiretta complements other familiar Thai ingredients such as kaffir/makrut lime and turmeric to care for skin that feels oily, congested or prone to visible blemishes.
