Sandalwood · ไม้จันทน์

Meet the Ingredient

Sandalwood, known in Thai as mai chan (ไม้จันทน์, pronounced my-chan), comes from the fragrant heartwood of a small evergreen tree. As the wood matures, it develops the warm, creamy scent that has made sandalwood treasured across Asian incense, fragrance and traditional care for generations.

We use finely milled sandalwood powder in our Sandalwood Cinnamon & Turmeric Cleansing Bar Soap, where it gently polishes away surface buildup and roughness while turmeric, cinnamon and coconut help leave the face and body feeling clean, soft and smooth. Its naturally warm, woody scent also gives an everyday cleanse a more comforting, grounded feel.

Verified by Modern Science

Sandalwood contains aromatic compounds including alpha-santalol and beta-santalol and has shown antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. These properties help calm visible irritation, support naturally cleaner and healthy skin

Did You Know?

Sandalwood has been valued across Asia for centuries for its long-lasting fragrance and its place in ceremonial, spiritual and personal-care traditions. Unlike many woods that lose their scent quickly after cutting, good-quality sandalwood can hold onto its warm aroma for years.

Finely ground sandalwood has also traditionally been mixed into skin pastes and cleansing preparations. That long history of using sandalwood for both scent and skin care is why it fits so naturally into our own cleansing ritual today.
