Pregnancy: During this beautiful period of growth, a woman's body experiences hormonal changes that physically transforms her entire body — which oftentimes lasts well after pregnancy (postpartum) — and these change also affects the health and quality of skin.
What Causes Skin to Change During Pregnancy?
One of the main causes of changes in skin quality and texture in future and expecting mothers is stress.
Stress is a leading cause of many skin issues including acne and dryness and can even exacerbate existing conditions such as eczema. These issues are magnified when hormones from pregnancy are added to the equation (specifically: progesterone and estrogen).
Progesteroneprepares the uterus lining for the egg to implant itself & acts as a muscle relaxant. It also stimulates the production of sebum in skin's glands. Excess oiliness can block pores, cause the skin to swell, and lead to breakouts.
Estrogen reaches the highest levels during the third trimester (six times more than before pregnancy!). It stimulates collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid production that helps the skin to stay plump and firm. Post-delivery, as estrogen levels drop, it can lead to dry spots and an overall feeling of dryness.
How to Take Natural Care of Skin During and After Pregnancy
There are two main things you can do: first, practice self-care to reduce stress. Self-care and mental well-being are linked. By taking better care of ourselves physically i.e. through skincare, we get a boost of dopamine and serotonin that does wonders for our emotional needs which, in turn, allows our body (and skin!) to thrive.
Second: use all-natural products that will not further disrupt hormones. While your hormones are already fluctuating due to pregnancy, chemical skincare products can further cause hormonal imbalances — and the effects typically last well after pregnancy once the chemicals are absorbed by your skin.

From Farm to Skin: The Essence of Wellness
Great care is taken to make sure that none of the ingredients used in our hair & skincare remedies are sourced from industrial farms or exposed to chemicals at any point of the product crafting process.
To ensure that only the highest quality natural ingredients are sourced, we personally travel throughout Thailand to connect with farm holders who share our values and whose livelihoods depend on sustainably and responsibly caring for natural resources.
We are lucky to have partnered up with a number of wonderful small farm holders who mindfully grow their herbs using organic, sustainable and eco-friendly farming techniques.
