What is Gua Sha

Gua Sha is an ancient Chinese skin healing technique that involves scraping the skin with a massage tool in order to boost circulation, energy, and promote healing. It was originally used on the body but has now been converted for use in facial therapies.

Benefits of Gua Sha:

These are the benefits when using gua sha on your face:

  • Stimulates blood circulation
  • Relieves muscle tension
  • Helps eliminate puffiness
  • Relieves lymphatic drainage
  • Promotes skin elasticity
  • Increases sense of calm

Facial Oil for Gua Sha:

Before using Gua Sha, you really want to apply a bit of oil before you do the facial at home so that the tools glide nicely over your skin so it won't be too much friction. Our Sacha inchi, Ginger, & Turmeric Facial Oil absorbs super easily, non-greasy, and it is a perfect consistency, lightweight, non-comedogenic, and will provide nourishment to your skin.

When doing Gua Sha at home, the key is to always work from the inside of the face then go outwards. Ideally, apply 3 drops of facial oil and then use the Gum Sha tool over the entire face, neck, and décolletage. And always scrape up, never pull your face down. This technique stimulates lymphatic flow and drainage, it helps to release excess fluids.

Performing Gua Sha once a week is recommended for Gua Sha, however, the frequency of use will depend on your skin type and your skin’s tolerance for the method. Once your skin gets more comfortable with the techniques, you could aim to use Gua Sha at least two to three times per week.
